A 35-year veteran of the action sports market, Mark is also a former Marketing Director at Rip Curl USA and Vice President of global marketing at Reef. After competing on the ASP world professional surfing tour in 1980/81 Mark joined Gotcha Sportswear in 1982, a start-up surfwear company. After holding various positions within the company, Mark became Vice President of Marketing and International, while contributing to revenue growth from USD 1.5m to over USD 100m in 8 years. After leaving Gotcha, Mark started and ran a small surf apparel business for 8 years before he joined Ripcurl as USA Marketing Director. Reef Footwear contacted Mark shortly thereafter and he made the transition to VP of Global Marketing, contributing to Reef’s high double-digit growth and the eventual sale to VF Corp in April of 2005 before joining Firewire, a start-up surfboard brand. As Firewire’s CEO, Mark has led a talented global team and established the company as one of the most innovative and technical proficient surfboard manufacturers in the world, with a strong commitment to producing the greenest, commercially viable product possible, without sacrificing performance and durability.
