The Southern Gold Coast is set to host the inaugural International Surfing Symposium in 2017. Confirmed for 13 – 17 March, 2017 at Currumbin RSL, the Symposium is organised by Gold Coast World Surfing Reserve Inc. to follow in the wake of the ocean conservation theme 12 months after the Gold Coast was endorsed as the 8th World Surfing Reserve.
